على ساحة الجهاد، صارت واجهة الشامية علامةً من علامات الحي: تمرّ من قدامها صباحاً وتلاقي صواني البقلاوة معبأة لتوّها، وتمرّ بعد منتصف الليل وتلاقي الضوء نفسه والرائحة نفسها. أحد زبائننا كتب أنه كان يوقف عندنا مرة كل أسبوع وهو رايح على المدرسة — واليوم يمرّ بأولاده.On Jahez Square, Al-Shamieh's storefront became one of the neighbourhood's landmarks: pass by in the morning and the baklava trays are freshly stacked; pass after midnight and the same light and the same smell are waiting. One customer wrote that he used to stop here once a week on his way to school — today he passes with his own kids.
