The corner

Painted on, not printed.

There is no vinyl logo at Heart Coffee. The name is painted by hand, twice: once in big white strokes across the shop window, and once in ink on the sign that hangs over the footpath. Behind the glass the room is bright, airy and minimalist, white walls and pale timber, a little modern and a little retro, with indoor plants in every corner.

The coffee is built on Dukes Coffee Roasters blends, black or white, with a heart poured into the flat whites more often than not. The kitchen keeps it simple and does it properly: toasted sandwiches stacked the right way, house-baked treats on the counter, and the cinnamon scrolls most people are really here for.

The signature

The cinnamon scroll.

Richly glazed, pillow-soft and served warm. It is the first thing most reviews mention, and one calls it the best in Melbourne outright. The scroll changes with the seasons, takes savoury turns, and the ham and cheese version has a following of its own.

Original
The glazed classic that made the name.
Seasonal

Savoury
For the not-sweet crowd.
Ham & cheese
Named in the reviews by name.

Baked through the morning and priced at the counter. When the tray is empty, that is it until tomorrow, so if you are crossing town for one, ask us to put one aside.

The best cinnamon scroll in Melbourne ever, it's so soft and delicious. We love the original scroll and the ham and cheese

Kristine Subagiyo

Their richly glazed, warm cinnamon scroll is absolutely addictive. It also comes in seasonal and savoury varieties

Justas Pipinis

I love the clean interior and all the indoor plants. They brew with Dukes Coffee beans and have a great variety of sandwiches
